Grab and go classroom websites

Well, here we go. It is time to go back to school and the to-do list is long, I know and I am right there with you in feeling like you don’t know where to start!

This blog post is all about sharing my top 5 grab and go classroom websites with the hope that it makes your school year that little bit easier.

Hopefully there’s something for everybody here, so let’s cut to the chase and list them!

  1. classroomscreen

classroomscreen

I love this website for a host of reasons, but one of those is how responsive the team are. There are paid and free options on here with the paid giving you the option to save your screens to come back to.

There are so many excellent tools built in to the screens such as timers, group makers, poll options, a fully functioning whiteboard and you can embed any YouTube videos or Slides you need (and the ads won’t play on YouTube!).

A great, multi-purpose tool you don’t want to miss out on.

2. Handwriting Repeater

If you are teaching letter formation or cursive, you will know it is tricky to have the children remember the formation. Handwriting repeater has solved that problem!

You model your handwriting on the screen (after choosing from a variety of backgrounds) and then hit ‘loop’ and ‘trace’ and the website does the rest for you!

It will repeat your work on a loop, demonstrating to the children the formation you require them to use.

An excellent, free tool that makes handwriting a lot clearer (and the children love to watch it loop!)

mathigon polypad

3. Mathigon Polypad

All the maths manipulatives you could ever need, in one place. I know what school budgets are like, we struggle to have all the concrete materials and it can be hard to demonstrated using them with a class of 30 trying to all see at once.

Mathigon has almost every manipulative out there and most have an interactive element to help the children to visualise mathematical concepts.

It also features a great whiteboard tool to annotate your thinking!

Scratch Garden

4. Scratch Garden

We sometimes need to enhance our lessons with another form of media and Scratch Garden has you covered when it comes to engaging videos!

Covering a range of different subjects, there’s songs, explanation videos, movement breaks and more. Without having to worry about what adverts are going to play, Scratch Garden will finish off your lesson nicely and hopefully ensure all styles of learning are met.

Steve Wyborney’s Blog

A wealth of incredible grab and go maths slides.

Work on subitising with all ages with his ‘Splat’ slides or build on number sense with his ‘esti-mysteries’. The children in my class absolutely love these activities and they are excellent warm ups to have your class thinking positively about maths - even if they usually don’t!
